Chickpea Fritters

Ingredients
- Olive oil, 1/4 cup
- Flour, 1/2 cup
- Egg, 1
- Beer, 1/2 cup
- Shallot, 1 chopped
- Garlic, 1 clove minced
- Cumin, 1/2 tsp.
- Garam masala, 1/4 tsp.
- Turmeric, 1/4 tsp.
- Cayenne, 1/4 tsp.
- Canned chickpeas, 15.5 oz
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
Equipment
- Large bowl
- Medium bowl
- Can opener
- Potato masher
- Large frying pan
Prep
- Chop shallot
- Mince garlic
Instructions

Add flour to bowl and make a well in the center.

Crack egg into the flour well and whisk.

Add beer and mix until batter is even.

Stir in shallot, garlic, cumin, garam masala, turmeric, cayenne, salt, and pepper.

Drain and rinse chickpeas.

Place chickpeas in medium bowl and use the potato masher until chickpeas are semi-mashed.

Add chickpeas to batter and mix until even.

Heat frying pan over medium heat.

Add olive oil and drop spoonfuls of batter into the pan.

Fry for ~3 minutes per side or until golden; transfer to a dish lined with paper towels.

Repeat with the remaining batter.
