Black Bean Burgers

Ingredients

  • Black beans, 2 15 oz. cans
  • Onion, 1
  • Garlic, 3 cloves
  • Chipotle peppers in adobo sauce, 2 pieces + 2 tbs.
  • Mayonnaise, 1 tbs.
  • Worchestershire sauce, 1 tbs.
  • Sriracha, 1 tbs.
  • Cumin, 1 tsp.
  • Chili powder, 1/2 tsp.
  • Smoked paprika, 1/4 tsp.
  • Black pepper, 1/2 tsp.
  • Egg, 1
  • Panko bread crumnbs, 1 1/4 cup

Equipment

  • Large bowl
  • Potato masher
  • Food processor

Prep

  • Peel and quarter onions

Instructions

  1. Drain and mash beans in large bowl.

  2. Roughly process onion, garlic, and peppers. Add to large bowl.

  3. Add adobo sauce, mayo, Worchestershire sauce, Sriracha, cumin, chili powder, paprika, black pepper, and egg to the large bowl and mix until even.

  4. Stir in bread crumbs until even.

  5. Shape into 6 patties.

  6. Chill for at least 10 minutes and freeze on parchment paper, if desired. Thaw for one hour before frying.

  7. Fry on oiled pan for ~5 min. per side.
